‘Keeping a Clean Sheet Feels Like Scoring’: Okoye Reflects on Career-Best Save in Udinese’s 3-0 Win Vs Milan

Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has described his side’s stunning 3-0 victory over AC Milan at San Siro as ‘an incredible evening,’ highlighting his crucial save against Alexis Saelemaekers as one of the best of his career.

‘It’s a weekend we will never forget,’ Okoye said on Udinese Tonight. ‘Winning 0-3 at San Siro is a special thing, it was a great emotion, an incredible evening for all of us.’

The Nigerian shot-stopper was one of the standout performers, keeping his third consecutive clean sheet.

‘For me, keeping a clean sheet is like scoring a goal. I’m happy to have made three in a row, but it’s thanks to teamwork,’ he explained.

His instinctive stop to deny Saelemaekers, which deflected onto the crossbar, was singled out as his finest save since joining Udinese.

Okoye admitted the season began in difficult fashion, with limited playing time until mid-October, but credited the support of coach Runjaic, technical director Gökhan Inler, and goalkeeper coach Brunner for helping him regain form.

‘I was in golden hands. Udinese never made me feel alone and always believed in me,’ he said.

The 26-year-old praised the unity within the squad, pointing to leaders like Karlström, Kabasele, and Zaniolo, while also lauding teammates such as striker Davis and fellow goalkeepers Padelli, Sava, and Nunziante.

‘We laugh together, we suffer together, we work together and this shows on the field,’ he added.
