LA 2028 Olympics: Eguavoen Unleashes Super Falcons Heavy Artillery For Comoros Clash
Interim Super Falcons head coach Augustine Eguavoen has unveiled a formidable 28-player squad for Nigeria’s crucial second-round 2028 Olympic Games qualifier against Comoros, with Rasheedat Ajibade, Chiamaka Nnadozie and Asisat Oshoala among the headline names.
Ajibade, who recently joined Paris Saint-Germain, leads a squad packed with international experience, while Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Nnadozie, Chicago Stars defender Michelle Alozie, Al-Ittihad’s Ashley Plumptre and PSG midfielder Jennifer Echegini also make the cut.
Record six-time African Player of the Year Oshoala returns to the squad alongside Uchenna Kanu, Gift Monday and Toni Payne as Nigeria begins its long journey towards the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
Eguavoen has also opened the door to emerging talent, with Christiana Uzoma, Farida Abdulwahab, Tumininu Adeshina, Favour Nkwocha, Shakirat Moshood, Oluwakemi Adegbuyi and Janet Akekoromowei included in the squad.
The invited players are expected to report to AM2PM Hotel, Ijebu-Ode, on Saturday, October 3, for the start of preparations.
The two-legged encounter will have an unusual twist, with both matches taking place in Nigeria after Comoros were unable to secure a CAF-approved stadium for the fixture.
Comoros will nominally host the first leg at Remo Stars Sports Stadium, Ikenne-Remo, on Friday, October 9, before Nigeria hosts the return leg at the same venue four days later on Tuesday, October 13.
The Super Falcons must win the tie on aggregate to advance to the third round of the five-stage African qualifying series, which will run through December 2027.
