LaLiga: Chukwueze targets third goal in seven games Vs Real Betis

Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze will be seeking to score his first LaLiga goal of the season in five appearances when his club, Villarreal visit the Estadio Benito Villamarin to face their host, Real Betis Balompie.

The 23 year old has not scored in the LaLiga since he netted Villarreal’s only goal in the 2-1 loss away at Deportivo Alavés at the end of April.

If he scores, it will be the Nigerian’s third LaLiga goal in seven appearances against Finidi George’s former team.

Chukwueze scored his first goal against Betis in November 2018 when he scored Villarreal’s second goal in a 2-1 home win at the La Cerámica.

The Nigerian was on target again in September of the following year, scoring once and bagging an assist in the Yellow Submarines’ 5-1 demolition of their host at the La Cerámica.

The Super Eagles star will also be seeking his fourth start in seven games against Betis. If he starts on Sunday, it will be his first in five LaLiga games so far this season.

Chukwueze has featured 122 times in the competition and has scored 15 times and bagged 14 assists.

Overall, the Nigerian has played 164 times across all competitions for Villarreal and has scored 26 times and bagged 23 assists.

This season, he has scored twice and bagged three assists in seven games across all competitions but none of the two goals has come from the LaLiga while one of the three assists was provided in the league, precisely in Villarreal’s 3-0 matchday one win against Real Valladolid at the Nuevo José Zorrilla in August.
