Leicester 2-0 Stoke City: Impressive Ndidi puts up another man of the match performance, takes assists haul to four

Wilfred Ndidi put up another man of the match performance and provided his third Championship assist in 11 games to help Leicester City to a 2-0 defeat of
visiting Stoke City Saturday at the King Power stadium.

Ndidi, who has been nominated for the PFA Fans Player of the month for September, played for the final 13 minutes of the game after he was subbed on for
Cesare Casadei on 77 minutes.

The Nigerian was simply imperious in the game and was awarded eight out of nine by the influential Leicester Mercury newspaper, the top joint mark rating of
any player on the field at the King Power stadium.

‘One of the most effective substitutions for a while. He (Ndidi) looks so confident. He set up (Jamie) Vardy’s goal and could have had a hat-trick himself
thanks to his persistent runs beyond the last man,’ wrote the newspaper.

The two goalscorers, Kelechi Iheanacho and Vardy were rated below the 26 year old Ndidi.

‘He (Iheanacho) got his goal thanks to a combination of good movement, a poor touch, and a great finish. His touch continued to desert him at times, but he
improved just before he came off, setting up big chances for Fatawu and Dewsbury-Hall,’ wrote the Leicester Mercury who rated him seven out of 10.

Ndidi has now made seven goal contributions so far this season, the highest he has ever made in a single season, two more than he made in the 2017/18 and 2020/21 seasons.

Leicester City still sit atop the league standings with 30 points from 11 games, two more than Ipswich Town in second place and eight better than Preston in third.
