Ndidi returns after injury scare, Awoniyi misses chance to net third Premier League goal
Kelechi Iheanacho was an unused substitute for the second time in eight Premier League games as Leicester City bounced back from a six-game losing streak to demolish visiting Nottingham Forest 4-0 at the King Power stadium on Tuesday evening.
The Nigerian international forward was hoping lightning would strike twice for the second consecutive year after he scored on his 25th birthday last year in Leicester City’s 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace.
The former Manchester City forward’s wishes failed to transform to reality as he was left on the bench to watch the Foxes make mincemeat of a Forest team that paraded the wasteful Taiwo Awoniyi in attack.
Iheanacho has started just one game this season in the Premier League for the host and has now been left as an unused substitute for the 67th time after starting his career in the competition with three bench roles against West Brom, Chelsea and Everton in August 2015.
Wilfred Ndidi however returned to action after the injury scare that forced him to miss Super Eagles international friendly game against Algeria last week.
The 25 year old was however on the pitch for just 45 minutes as he was replaced by Boubakary Soumare at the start of the second half
Meanwhile, Awoniyi also made his fourth start in eight appearances in the competition but will be remembered more for missing good opportunities to score his third goal in his first season in England.
The 25 year old hit the woodwork once and missed a near sitter before he was replaced on 62 minutes by his Nigerian teammate at the club, Emmanuel Dennis who made his fifth substitute appearance for Forest.
