Leicester City confirms Iheanacho’s exit, Ndidi contract talks

Leicester City has confirmed the exit of Kelechi Iheanacho from the club, bringing to an end his seven-year stint at the King Power stadium after joining from Manchester City in August 2017.

The Nigerian, 27, scored 61 goals in Leicester colours in 232 across all competitions, including the winner against his former club in the FA Community Shield final at Wembley in August 2021.

Iheanacho had his best season as a Leicester City player in the 2020/21 season, scoring 19 goals in 39 appearances including a personal, single season record of 12 in 25 Premier League games.

That season, his four goals in six FA Cup games led the Foxes to their first domestic cup trophy in recent memory. The goals included the two and an assist in the 3-1 defeat of Manchester United at the quarterfinal stage as well as the winner in the 1-0 defeat of Brighton in the fifth round and against Southampton in the semifinal.

Meanwhile, Leicester City revealed they are in discussion with midfielder Wilfred Ndidi regarding his future beyond the expiration of his current contract this month.
