Lookman Delighted After Scoring in Atletico’s Champions League Win Over Man Utd

Ademola Lookman has expressed delight after scoring in Atletico Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Manchester United in Tuesday’s Champions League encounter.

Pablo Barrios opened the scoring inside the first minute after being set up by Alex Baena, while Johnny Cardoso had a goal ruled out before half-time.

Manchester United’s hopes of recovering from the early setback suffered another blow when Leny Yoro was sent off in the 74th minute.

Lookman, who replaced Julian Alvarez in the 71st minute, sealed Atletico’s victory with a goal five minutes later to cap an impressive performance by the Spanish side.

Speaking to CBS Sports Golazo after the match, the Nigerian international praised his teammates and described the result as an important confidence boost ahead of their next fixture.

‘We know how big of a win that is for us,’ Lookman said.

‘The guys put on a big performance before I come on, so it’s easy to come into the team and play.

‘I tried to help the team defensively and offensively when I get the energy. It’s a big win for us; it gives us confidence going into the next game. Game after game, we have to be ready.’
