Lookman extends goal drought against Monza to five games
Ademola Lookman, the world’s 14th best player in 2024, has extended his goal drought against Monza in the Serie A to five games after he fired blank in Wednesday evening match week 10 clash at the Gewiss stadium in Bergamo.
The 27 year old was in action for just the first 46 minutes of the game and was withdrawn in the second half for tactical reason but the Nigerian did not look like scoring while he was on the pitch.
He has now failed to score against Monza in five games, the most he has played against any club in the Italian topflight league without scoring albeit he has bagged an assist against the visitors.
Lookman has scored four goals and bagged four assists in seven Serie A games so far this term and the Super Eagle will be hoping to com to his scoring best this weekend when Atalanta visit the Diego Armando Maradona to play leaders, Napoli.
The Nigerian has scored twice in four games against the Partenopei and will hope to make score to take his total tally to 29 goals, more than Obafemi Martins and become the third most prolific Nigerian in the competition after Victor Osimhen (65 in 108 games for Napoli) and Simy Nwankwo (34 in 116 games for Crotone and Salernitana).
