Lookman warns Serie A rivals: Atalanta will get even better
Ademola Lookman has promised Atalanta Serie A rivals La Dea are determined to maintain their unprecedented run in the competition which has seen them win a record 10 games on the bounce before drawing the 11th at Fisayo Deele-Bashiru’s SS Lazio.
Lookman made history in May when his hat-trick fetched Atalanta their first European title, the Europa League, and the 27-year-old says they are determined to win their first Scudetto as well.
Atalanta are top of the Serie A table going into the new year and Lookman has warned they are prepared to even get better after providing the assist that gave La Dea a point at SS Lazio.
‘It was a tough match, the first half was very difficult for us, but we fought and, on another day, might’ve won the game. We drew today, but we didn’t lose, so it’s positive.
‘The club had a fantastic 2024, so we want to continue doing the same thing and the new year will be even better,’ said the Nigerian after the game on Saturday.
Lookman is however looking to win another trophy before the Scudetto and that is the Supercoppa Italiana semi-final against Inter in Riyadh on January 2.
‘It is another big game, the Supercoppa is important for us. Inter are a strong team, we know that we have to fight and show our quality,’ said the Nigerian who has scored 12 times and provided six assists in 21 appearances so far this term.
