Lookman Delighted After Scoring on Atletico Madrid Debut

Ademola Lookman enjoyed a dream start to life at Atletico Madrid, scoring and assisting on his debut as Los Colchoneros thrashed Real Betis 5-0 in their Copa del Rey quarter-final clash at La Cartuja on Thursday night.

The Nigerian forward, who joined Atleti from Atalanta during the winter transfer window, was one of the standout performers in Seville, marking his first appearance in Spanish football with a decisive contribution.

Reflecting on the night, Lookman expressed his pride and gratitude for the warm welcome he has received from his new teammates.

‘Very proud, very happy for my debut, especially for the performance of the team. The team, everyone in the dressing room welcomed me in a very affectionate way. They made it easy for me. That’s why I’m very happy.

‘I’ll try to be regular in the season. Everyone works hard. There are things that can be improved, but my intention is to continue working to improve, which is the important thing,’ he told Mundo Deportivo.

Lookman’s immediate impact has raised expectations among Atletico supporters, who will now look forward to his La Liga debut at the Civitas Metropolitano, where Diego Simeone’s side will once again face Real Betis this weekend.
