After successfully completing the Aramco Houston Half Marathon in nearly three hours (2 hours and 53 minutes) last weekend in Houston, USA, Nigerians on social media have tasked Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde to ensure the state organizes a befitting full or half marathon in Ibadan.

Onibiyo’s sentiment was shared by Tirimisiyu Oduola, who claims to be from the Kudeti area of Ibadan.

‘Our performing Governor can use the marathon race to showcase some of the transformational works he is doing in the state, especially the road constructions in Ibadan, the capital city,’ he wrote on Facebook.

Makinde’s support for Shooting Stars of Ibadan, who ended the first half of the Nigeria Premier Football League season as the form team after winning their last five games of 2024 in a row without conceding a goal.

‘Governor Makinde’s passion and support for sports is not in doubt, and I am confident he can inspire the organization of the best marathon race in Nigeria and that will be as flawless, friendly and transformational event like the Aramco half marathon in Houston,’ wrote Chukwudi Obiora from Anambra state but who resides in Ibadan.
