Man City 4-1 Liverpool: Guardiola wins 100th game at the Etihad!

Pep Guardiola has become the fastest manager to reach 100 victories at a single venue in the Premier League history (currently Arsene Wenger at Highbury, 139 matches) after his rampant Man City mauled Liverpool 4-1 in a matchweek 29 game on Saturday.

The Spaniard has drawn 16 and lost 12 times at the stadium after joining Man City from Bayern Munich in July 2016.

Saturday’s game at the Etihad was on edge at half-time, but Man City quickly put any Liverpool hopes to bed.

Julian Alvarez cancelled out Mo Salah’s early goal before the break. Kevin De Bruyne put the hosts in front 53 seconds after the resumption, before Ilkay Gundogan and Jack Grealish put the match beyond the Reds.

This is the first time Liverpool have scored first and then conceded four goals in a PL match since December 2016 at AFC Bournemouth.

Meanwhile, Kevin De Bruyne provided his 13th assist of the season and 99th since he made his Premier League debut in August 2013. Interestingly, he provided the assist for Chelsea’s first goal in the 2-0 defeat of Hull City at Stamford Bridge.

Only four players have registered more assists in Premier League history than the Belgian.

They are Ryan Giggs (162), Cesc Fàbregas (111), Wayne Rooney (103) and Frank Lampard (102).
