Man City Vs Man United: Haaland, De Bruyne out to set new Premier League marks

Manchester City duo of striker Erling Haaland and midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne will be out to help the Cityzens beat Manchester United at the Etihad this weekend when the Red Devils come calling in a Premier League matchweek nine fixture.

This is aside the duo’s individual desire to set new Premier League goal involment benchmarks.

Haaland, who has broken a few Premier League scoring records since he made his debut in the competition in August, will be looking to become the first player in competition’s history to net three consecutive hat-tricks on home soil.

Haaland is on course to break countless goalscoring records, and manager Pep Guardiola has warned the rest of the league that the Norwegian is only going to improve in front of goal.

De Bruyne on his part will be looking to surpass Steven Gerrard’s Premier League assist tally on Sunday.

The Belgian is regarded as one the best playmakers in world football.

The 31-year-old provided two assists in Man City’s comfortable 3-0 victory over Wolves last time out to bring his total tally for the ongoing season to six after seven Premier League appearances.

De Bruyne has notched up a total of 92 Premier League assists, which puts him joint-seventh on the all-time list along with Liverpool legend Gerrard.

The Man City star will move ahead of the former England captain if he sets up one of his Man City teammates in the Manchester derby this weekend.

Providing one assist would also see him draw level with Citizens legend David Silva (93) in sixth place on the all-time list for assists and move just one behind former Arsenal star Dennis Bergkamp (94) in fifth place.
