Man United Star Patrick Dorgu Out for 10 Weeks After Arsenal Heroics
Manchester United have been dealt a major setback with confirmation that defender Patrick Dorgu will be sidelined for around 10 weeks after suffering a hamstring injury.
The Denmark international picked up the knock during United’s dramatic 3-2 victory over Premier League leaders Arsenal at the Emirates, a result that followed their shock win over rivals Manchester City the previous week under interim boss Michael Carrick.
Dorgu had been one of the standout performers in the clash, scoring United’s second goal with a powerful strike past Senne Lammens.
However, his evening ended prematurely when he pulled up chasing a long ball in the second half. Initial assessments suggested the worst, and reports now indicate he will miss crucial fixtures against Tottenham, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Everton, and Bournemouth among others.
Carrick admitted after the match that the extent of the injury was unclear at the time, saying: ‘He obviously came off with, hopefully, a little bit of cramp, hopefully, it’s nothing worse. At this stage, it’s hard to tell, so we’ll just have to wait and see. Hopefully it’s not too bad.’
Since joining United last season, Dorgu has made 22 Premier League appearances, scoring three goals and providing three assists.
His recent form has been impressive, with two goals and an assist in his last five league outings. His absence adds to United’s defensive woes, with Matthijs de Ligt already out for 11 games due to a back injury sustained in December.
