Manchester City Seal £116m Deal for Anderson

Manchester City have completed the signing of Nottingham Forest and England midfielder Elliot Anderson for a reported £116 million, making him one of the most expensive transfers in football history.

The 23-year-old arrives at the Etihad Stadium after a stellar spell at Forest, where his performances earned him a place in the England national team and recognition as one of the Premier League’s most dynamic midfielders.

The deal, paid upfront without instalments, ranks as the fifth-most expensive transfer of all time.

‘Manchester City and Nottingham Forest have reached an agreement for the transfer of Elliot Anderson,’ the club confirmed in a statement.

‘Anderson, 23, is currently competing at the FIFA World Cup with England and has completed a medical in Kansas. The formalities of the move will be finalised upon his return to England.

Anderson began his career at Newcastle United, enjoying a loan spell at Bristol Rovers before breaking into the first team at St. James’ Park.

Financial regulations forced Newcastle to sell him to Forest, where he flourished over two seasons and established himself as one of the division’s standout talents.

Currently representing England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Anderson has featured in all of the Three Lions’ matches so far, further underlining his rising profile on the international stage.
