Michael Emenalo’s Son Landon Close to Celtic Loan Switch
Scottish champions Celtic are reportedly in advanced talks to sign Chelsea youngster Landon Emenalo on loan for the 2026/27 season, with the highly rated teenager having travelled to Glasgow to discuss the proposed move.
The 18-year-old left-back, who is the son of former Nigeria international and Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo, was part of Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea squad during their pre-season tour and featured in the 6-4 victory over Western Sydney.
Emenalo has since returned to Britain and visited Celtic Park and the club’s Lennoxtown training centre as negotiations over a season-long loan continue.
According to Sky Sports, Celtic are looking for additional cover for first-choice left-back Kieran Tierney and have proposed a job-sharing arrangement to Emenalo and his representatives.
The Scottish champions believe the move could provide the teenager with valuable first-team experience, while Emenalo is understood to be attracted by the opportunity to establish himself at senior level.
Emenalo is highly regarded at Stamford Bridge, but opportunities in Chelsea’s first team could be limited during the coming season. A loan to Celtic would therefore give him the chance to play regular competitive football and continue his development away from west London.
Born to former Nigeria international Michael Emenalo and an American mother, Landon moved to England at a young age and has developed through Chelsea’s youth system.
His family background means he could potentially attract interest from both Nigeria and the United States at international level, although his immediate focus is understood to be on establishing himself in senior club football.
