Nathaniel Ezekiel Seals Back-to-Back Diamond League Final Spot

Nigeria’s 400m hurdles record holder and Commonwealth Games champion Nathaniel Ezekiel has secured his place in the final of the event at next month’s 2026 Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels, Belgium.

The 23-year-old Nigerian ran 47.50 seconds to finish third in Zurich behind Brazil’s Alison dos Santos, who clocked a new world record of 45.80 seconds, and Norway’s Karsten Warholm, who finished in 46.69 seconds.

Nathaniel’s third-place finish earned him six points, taking his season tally to 16 points after entering the meeting with 10. The total placed him sixth in the final Diamond League standings, enough to secure his ticket to Brussels.

The qualification means Nathaniel will make back-to-back appearances in the Diamond League Final.

After finishing third in last year’s final, the Nigerian will be hoping to go a step higher in Brussels and challenge for the title when the world’s leading 400m hurdlers meet for the season-ending showdown.
