Ndidi Ruled Out for Two Weeks After AFCON 2025 Injury

Beşiktaş have confirmed that Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi will be sidelined for two weeks after sustaining a thigh injury during Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

The Super Eagles star was forced off in the 70th minute of the quarterfinal clash against Algeria, complaining of pain in his left posterior thigh muscle.

Medical examinations carried out by Nigeria’s national team doctors revealed tension and bleeding in the biceps femoris muscle.

Beşiktaş later issued an official statement to clarify the extent of the injury:

‘In the 70th minute of Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations match against Algeria, our football player Wilfred Ndidi, who could not continue the game due to pain in the posterior muscle of his left thigh, was found to have tension and bleeding in the posterior thigh muscle (biceps femoris) in the MRI imaging performed by the Nigerian National Team Medical Team.’

The injury means Ndidi will miss Beşiktaş’s upcoming fixtures against Kayserispor and Eyüpspor. He is expected to return to Turkey after Nigeria’s AFCON campaign, where the Super Eagles secured third place by defeating Egypt in the bronze medal match.

The setback is a blow for Beşiktaş, who had been preparing to integrate Ndidi into their midfield following his strong performances at the continental tournament.
