Ndidi sets personal season’s assists record, Maja nets first goal for West Brom

Midfielder Wilfred Ndidi bagged his fourth assist in 15 Championship appearances as last-gasp Leicester City take all three Skybet Championship points at Semi Ajayi and Josh Maja’s West Brom on Saturday afternoon at the Hawthorns.

It was the Nigerian’s fifth in 18 games across all competitions so far this term and the most he has provided in a single season since he switched
Belgian Pro League side, KRC Genk in January 2017 for the Foxes.

The most assists Ndidi has bagged prior to this season was the four he provided in the 2017/18 and 2020/21 seasons in the Premier League.

Overall, the midfielder who will be 27 on December 16 has bagged 17 assists in 255 games across all competitions for the Foxes. He has also scored thrice
this term to bring his overall total to 14 in his over seven seasons at the King Power stadium.

Ndidi’s compatriot at the club, Kelechi Iheanacho returned to action from the start after staying on the bench all 90 minutes in the 1-1 draw at Sheffield
Wednesday last week.

The 27 year old made his 10th start of the season in the Championship and extended his goal drought in the competition to five games.

He has scored six goals and provided two assists for the Foxes so far this term.

Meanwhile, both Ajayi and Maja featured for the host and it was the latter that netted West Brom’s only goal when he drew the Baggies level on 89
minutes after Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall had put the visitors 1-0 up via an Ndidi assist in the 72nd minute.

It was Maja’s first goal in the competition for West Brom in eight appearances and three in 40 appearances overall for three clubs.
