New Napoli coach Garcia wants Osimhen to stay

New Napoli boss Rudi Garcia doesn’t want to part ways with Nigeria striker, Victor Osimhen who inspired the club to their first Scudetto win in 33 years.

Garcia was appointed to replace Luciano Spalletti who quit after leading Napoli to the historic Serie A ttile win and a first ever UEFA Champions League quarterfinal ticket.

According to Italy’s widely read sports dailies, La Gazzetta dello Sport and Il Corriere dello Sport claim the French coach has already informed President Aurelio De Laurentiis that he doesn’t want to sell Osimhen.

It is understood that the Partenopei won’t sell the Super Eagles for less than €150-160m and will offer him a contract extension in the coming weeks.

Osimhen ended the 2022/23 Serie A season as top scorer, becoming in the process the first African to do so. He also ended the season as the top scoring African in a single Serie A season and the all-time African top scorer in the competition.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Jonathan David of Lille is Napoli’s main target if Osimhen leaves following the transfer speculations surrounding the 24 year old.
