Premier League sides, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur have been tipped to approach Napoli with mammoth offers for Napoli and Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen in the summer.
Both clubs reportedly made offers for the 23 year old during the winter (January) transfer window with both offers knocked back by Napoli.
Newcastle, according to Italian journalist and transfer expert Paolo Bargiggia, are prepared to pay as much as £83m (€100m) for Osimhen.
The Magpies are expected to invest again in the squad this summer, when it’s traditionally easier to sign players.
The forward was among an endless number of players who were linked with Newcastle in January. Prior to his move to Napoli in 2020, he was reportedly targeted by Spurs.
Tottenham are also reported to be ready to ‘return’ for the Nigerian this summer after the Serie A side ‘knocked back’ their approach during the January transfer window.
The 23-year-old has netted 19 goals from his 46 appearances for the Italian side since the start of the 2020/21 campaign.
Meanwhile Italian pundit Paolo Del Genio has urged Napoli to accept the bid for Osimhen and Fabian Ruiz. He believes doing so will help bolster Luciano Spalletti’s squad.
He told Radio Kiss Kiss in Napoli : “Accepting €140m for Fabian and Osimhen from Newcastle in the summer? That’s right. If they stay up.
“Then they would be two painful losses, but with that money, you make a very, very strong team. With that money, you get four, five very strong elements.
“Even if you don’t replace those two with two equally strong eventually. However, you can be stronger as a squad and in football you win with the squad.”
