NFF Elections: Sports Minister Not Endorsing Any Candidate

Inspite of widespread insinuations from a section of the media, the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare is not endorsing any candidate for the presidency of the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF)in its forthcoming elective congress.

A good number of high profile personalities have indicated their interest in contesting for the presidency of the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) with some claiming to have the backing of the Minister.

Top sources within the Youth and Sports Ministry have revealed that although some of those who have thrown their hats into the ring personally informed the Minister about their move, he refused to endorse or throw his weight behind any of them.

“Many of those who have come out to declare their interest in the NFF presidency informed the Minister on a personal level and out of courtesy, which is not out of place but he just merely wished them the best of luck and did not endorse or throw his weight behind any of them.

“All that the Sports Minister wants is for the right person to emerge. The person that will drive positive reforms for our football and lay a solid foundation for its growth and development.

“The Minister has told all who care to listen that he has no candidate and he is not anointing any candidate either,” the Ministry sources added.
