NFRA Hails Peter Edibe Over Referee Assessor Role at WAFU B U-20 AFCON Qualifiers
The Nigeria Football Referees’ Association (NFRA) has congratulated retired FIFA referee Peter Edibe following his appointment as a Referee Assessor at the ongoing WAFU B U-20 AFCON Qualifiers in Côte d’Ivoire.
Edibe, one of the selected CAF assessors overseeing the performance of match officials at the tournament, has already assessed the officiating teams in the Togo vs Burkina Faso and Ghana vs Togo matches.
A former FIFA assistant referee with experience at the Olympic Games, FIFA Club competitions and the Africa Cup of Nations, he remains a respected CAF and FIFA technical instructor and was recently appointed to the NFRA Grading and Assessment Committee.
Reacting to the development, NFRA Acting President Sir Kelechi Mejuobi described Edibe’s appointment as another testament to the quality of Nigerian referees and officials on the continental stage.
“Peter Edibe’s exploits remain another major boost to the development of referees in Nigeria and beyond. We congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition and believe the experience he continues to gather at the highest level will have a positive impact on the growth of our referees,” Mejuobi said.
