NPFL: It’s five wins in a row without conceding a goal for Shooting Stars!

A first half added time goal by Adam Agba’a Mustapha (45+5) was enough for Shooting Stars of Ibadan to claim their fifth win on the bounce. The Oluyole Warriors have not only won their last five games, home and away, but have done that without conceding a goal.

The win, secured at the Lekan Salami stadium in Ibadan against Kwara United is also their seventh straight home win, scoring 11 times and conceded just once.

Shooting Stars started the five-match winning run with a 2-0 defeat of Abia Warriors in Ibadan and just under a week after losing 2-0 at Remo Stars in a Southwest derby.

Coach Gbenga Ogunbote’s team the travelled to the Remo Stars stadium to beat Sunshine Stars with a 28th minute goal by Otakho Alexander Aghahowa.

Another 2-0 home win, this time over Ahmed Musa’s Kano Pillars followed in Ibadan before the team went to the Cathedral, the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium in Enugu where they pipped traditional rivals, Rangers of Enugu who had gone 10 games without defeat before the game.

The Oluyole Warriors will now be seeking to make it six wins in a row when the second stanza of the league begins.

Sunday’s defeat of Kwara United have put the Ibadan side third on the log with 33 points from 19 games, just three points off league leaders, Remo Stars and level on points with Rivers United who host Plateau United in their matchday 19 game in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
