NPFL: Rangers stay two points clear despite second straight away loss

Rangers international football club of Enugu lost for the second consecutive away game but are still top of the NPFL table after 31 round of matches.

The Flying Antelopes were beaten 2-0 at Rivers United exactly two weeks after losing 4-3 at Katsina United but still stay two points clear of second placed Enyimba of Aba who salvaged a draw (1-1) in Akure against Sunshine Stars.

Alex Oyowah (34th) and Echeta Ugonna Deputy (82nd) scored the two goals for Rivers United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt for their second consecutive win following the CAF Confederation Cup exit t the quarterfinal stage.

Lobi Stars are third on the log after failing to get past visiting Insurance at the Lafia Township Stadium in Lafia where they play their home games.

Remo Stars however failed to take advantage of Enyimba and Lobi Stars slip as they were pipped 1-0 by Plateau United courtesy of Sunday Anthony’s 69th minute goal at the Jos International Stadium in Jos.

Gombe United stay rooted to the bottom of the log after they were comprehensively dismembered by Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha stadium in Kano courtesy of a brace from Rabiu Ali on 32 and 45 minutes plus strikes from Ibrahim Mustapha on nine minutes and Mustapha Umar (79th minute).
