NPFL Relegation Run-In: Enyimba, Remo Stars in Danger as Survival Race Tightens

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) enters its decisive final two rounds with the relegation battle wide open.

Thirteen clubs remain mathematically in danger, including two giants of Nigerian football, Enyimba, the most successful Nigerian side with two CAF Champions League titles, and Remo Stars, the defending NPFL champions.

Round 37 on May 10 and Round 38 on May 24 will determine who stays up and who drops, with just six points separating 11th-placed Enyimba (46 points) from bottom side Bayelsa United (40 points).

Remo Stars, meanwhile, face a nightmare scenario. The defending champions host Bayelsa United in a relegation six-pointer before traveling to Bendel. Victory against Bayelsa is crucial; defeat could leave them staring at relegation just a year after lifting the NPFL crown.

Elsewhere, Kano Pillars meet Warri Wolves, Wikki Tourist host Rivers United, and Kun Khalifa take on Abia Warriors in Round 37, all matches with survival implications.

The final day promises even more drama, with Bayelsa United vs Kwara, Bendel vs Remo Stars, and Warri Wolves vs Abia Warriors among the fixtures that could decide the fate of multiple clubs.

With so many teams clustered between 40 and 47 points, the margins are razor-thin. Traditional heavyweights like Enyimba and Kano Pillars must fight to preserve their top-flight status, while Remo Stars face the unthinkable prospect of relegation only a year after being crowned champions.
