NWFL: Okon, Dah-Zossu target Ratels scalp

Ahead of Match Day 12 of the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership encounter with Naija Ratels on Wednesday, Rivers Angels head coach, Edwin Okon has revealed that it’s a must-win for his side if they must qualify for this season’s Super 6.

Okon stated this immediately after the team’s training session inside the Old Parade Ground on Tuesday evening.

According to the former Super Falcons coach, they can’t afford to drop points in Abuja and the message has been passed to the players who will be on the pitch to deliver all points for the team.

Okon also seized the opportunity to remind supporters of Rivers Angels not to write off the team simply because its having a hard time, that they have achieved so much to be given every support needed in times like this.

“Football is not like mathematics, anything can happen and you don’t write off a team because of one bad season. Rivers Angels has achieved a lot in women’s football and shouldn’t be written off.

“The Super 6 is still open and that is the reason why we are here today. Anything can happen in the game and I’m solely here for three points. The players are equally aware of this. They must pick the maximum result required for the team.

“We are not underrating Naija Ratels in any way, I know the players would want to make a name for themselves so we won’t be taking them for granted,” he added.

Also speaking ahead of Wednesday’s game is Rivers Angels midfielder and Nigeria’s U-17 captain Alvin Dah-Zossu.

The midfield maestro says the game is like a cup final to her side and that they’d be putting in their best to ensure they get a good result over Naija Ratels.
