Ofili, Adeleke listed among 10 stars to watchout for in New Mexico

In The Bowerman Pre-NCAA Indoor Championships Watch List released Wednesday

Nigeria and LSU’s Favour Ofili and Irish-Nigerian, Rhasidat Adeleke of Texas University are among 10 women on the Bowerman Pre-NCAA Indoor Championships Watch List released Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Ofili, who is making her seventh career Bowerman Watch List appearance extended her undefeated season in the 200m, winning the SEC Championships in 22.52 for her first individual collegiate honour.

The 20 year old had earlier at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas ran a then world lead and lifetime best of 22.36 which now ranks her number three in the NCAA all-time list. She has also run a personal best of 7.15 in the 60m event.

Adeleke, the Yoruba lady who hails from Dublin, Ireland, is making her debut Bowerman Watch List appearance after breaking the Championships record in the 400m in winning the Big 12 Championships in 50.33.

Her record was short-lived, lasting some 90 minutes to fellow Watch List member Diggs.

Adeleke also has the No. 5 collegiate performance of all-time with a 50.45 from the New Mexico Collegiate Classic. She is undefeated at both 400 and 200, clocking 22.52 in the latter.

Another notable sprinter added to the Watch List is reigning 200m indoor world leader is Julien Alfred from St. Lucia who dethroned Ofili as the world leader after running 22.26 last weekend.

The 21 year old who also dominates the 60m all-time list will be the athlete between Ofili and a first ever NCAA indoor title.
