2026 Ed Murphy Classic: Ofili Claims Sweet Revenge with Stunning 21.74s 200m Victory
Nigeria’s Favour Ofili produced a sensational performance in the women’s 200m at the Ed Murphy Classic, storming to a wind-aided 21.74 seconds to win the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver event.
The victory carried an added significance for the Nigerian sprinter, marking a measure of revenge against American Mckenzie Long, who defeated her in their previous major meeting in 2025.
Long won that encounter with a time of 21.93 seconds, while Ofili finished second in 22.00 seconds, a performance that ranked as her second-fastest wind-legal time ever over the distance.
This time, Ofili turned the tables with a dominant display, producing the fastest 200m performance of her career under all conditions. However, the 2.8m/s tailwind meant the mark could not count as an official lifetime best.
The 23-year-old Olympic 200m finalist crossed the line ahead of Long, who finished second in 22.01 seconds, while Jamaica’s Ashanti Moore took third in a wind-assisted 22.10 seconds.
Ofili’s only wind-legal run inside 23 seconds before this season came four years ago, while her official season’s best currently stands at 22.15 seconds.
