Ofili hoping for lightning to strike twice at LSU Invitational
Nigerian set to return to action for the first time in 33 days; Onojuvwevwo, Nse Uko, Oghenebrume also set to compete
Nigeria’s 200m record holder indoors (22.11) and outdoor (21.96), Favour Ofili is finally set to return to action this weekend at the 2023 LSU Invitational.
The 20 year old has not competed since March 25, 2023 when she helped the LSU 4x100m relay team win at the Battle on The Bayou meeting.
Since then, Ofili has not been seen in action but the good news is that the Commonwealth Games 200m silver medalist will be back in action this weekend.
She has been registered to compete in the 100m event, her first individual outdoor race of the season.
The Nigerian will be hoping lightning can strike twice for her at the meeting after setting her 10.93 personal best at the 2022 LSU Invitational.
She is also in the Louisiana State University’s 4x100m relay team to the meeting which her school is hosting at the Bernie
Moore Stadium in Baton Rougu, Louisiana.
Listed to compete in the 4x100m relay team with Ofili are Thelma Davies, Brianna Lyston and sprint hurdler, Alia Armstrong,
The LSU Invitational will not just be about Ofili alone as a number of Nigerian student athletes will also be in action.
Godson Oghenebrume who last weekend ran a wind-aided 9.97 in the 100m event will compete in the 100/200m event while Ella Onojuvwevwo and Baylor University’s
Imaobong Nse Uko will also be in action in the women’s 400m.
Onojuvwevwo will also be in action in the women’s 4x400m while Nse Uko will run in Baylor University’s 4x100m relay team.
