Okon Pledges AFN’s Full Technical Support for Dynamic Athletics Meet

The Dynamic Athletics Meet 2026 has received a significant endorsement from the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) after the Federation’s Technical Director, Gabriel Okon, pledged full technical support for the competition scheduled for Saturday, August 15, at the YABATECH Sports Complex in Lagos.
Okon described the meet as an important addition to Nigeria’s athletics calendar, saying it deserves the Federation’s maximum backing to ensure it is staged to the highest technical standards.
“The Dynamic Athletics Meet deserves the full backing of the Federation. We will ensure the competition receives all the technical support required to guarantee a successful and professionally organized event,” Okon said.
The former national coach stressed that the domestic athletics season remains active, with several major championships still on the horizon, including the World Athletics Ultimate Championship, the Youth Olympic Games and the National Sports Festival.
He noted that quality competitions such as the Dynamic Athletics Meet are vital in keeping Nigerian athletes competitive and adequately prepared for international assignments.
“The season is still very much alive. We have significant championships ahead, and our athletes need quality competitions to stay in top form. It is the responsibility of the Federation to encourage and support meet organizers across the country who are creating these opportunities for our athletes,” he added.
Okon is currently in Glasgow, Scotland, where he is part of Team Nigeria’s technical crew at the Commonwealth Games. He has played a key role in the team’s preparations and performances at the Games and is expected to return to Nigeria after the competition to focus on preparations for the World Athletics Ultimate Championship, scheduled for September 11 to 13, while also supporting the successful organisation of the Dynamic Athletics Meet.
The Dynamic Athletics Meet has continued to establish itself as one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing athletics competitions, attracting increasing support from stakeholders committed to athlete development and the growth of track and field in the country.
