Okoye thrilled to extend Udinese contract, targets three points against Lazio

 

Nigeria goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye says he is thrilled to extend his Udinese contract until 2028.

The player, who will be 25 next week joined Udinese in August last year from English Skybet Championship side, Watford, has been the Fruili’s number one goalie since December last year and has featured for the Serie A side in 22 league games, starting all.

He made his 2024/25 debut in the draw at Bologna and was rated one of the best players on the field after he made five decisive saves.

Okoye has now revealed his delight to extend his stay in Udine when he met the fans of the club.

‘It’s very nice to be here. Thank you to all the fans. We’re very happy and want to do well this year.

‘Udinese is like a big family. We are grateful to everyone for the support. We all play together: the team and the fans. Saturday will be an important match.

‘I thank the club for the renewal, I am very happy to have extended. I think about improving myself day after day, without looking too far ahead.

‘My goal is to win the three points against Lazio. Saturday will be an important match. Step by step the team and I want to get to the top,’ he said.

Okoye will be in action on Saturday when his club hosts Fisayo Dele-Bashiru’s Lazio at the Bluenergy Stadium – Stadio Friuli.
