The Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA), in partnership with the University of Calabar (UNICAL), has officially unveiled OMON the Gorilla as the mascot of the 28th NUGA Games, set to take place from November 14-24, 2026, in Calabar, Cross River State.

Inspired by the critically endangered Cross River Gorilla, OMON symbolizes strength, resilience, unity, excellence, and determination, values that embody the spirit of university sports and student-athletes across Nigeria.

The 28th edition, tagged the Paradise Games, will highlight the natural beauty, cultural heritage, and biodiversity of Cross River State while promoting awareness of wildlife conservation and environmental sustainability.

OMON will serve as the face of the Games in promotional campaigns, community engagement, volunteer programs, and educational initiatives leading up to Calabar 2026.
