Onuachu fires blank again, ready to leave KRC Genk if opportunity arises

For the first time in his Belgian Jupiler League career, Paul Onuachu has failed to score in his first three opening games of a new season after he fired blank yet again at the Stade du Pairay where his club, KRC Genk annihilated their host, RFC Seraing 4-0.

Onuach who missed the first two games of the season due to Adductor problems and was benched for all 90 minutes in the third has started the next three games from the bench.

The Nigerian was subbed on for Joseph Paintsil in the 73rd minute after his side had completed the scoring to stay top of the table with 15 points from six games.

Meanwhile, KRC Genk manager Wouter Vrancken believes forward Onuachu will leave the club if an opportunity arises this summer.

The 28-year-old Nigeria international is attracting a host of top European clubs following his superb display for the Smurfs in the Belgian Pro League last campaign.

According to Vrancken, Onuachu who has scored 57 times in 87 appearances for the club in the Jupiler league is open to leaving and he understands the situation.

“I spoke with him [Onuachu] several times this summer about his desire to transfer,” Vrancken said, as per Walfoot ahead of Genk’s league fixture against FRC Seraing at Stade du Pairay on Saturday.

“He then told me that if the opportunity arises and he likes the club, he will want to leave. When you score that many goals in three seasons, I understand it perfectly.”
