Onuachu’s Goal Drought Leaves Trabzonspor Struggling in The Süper Lig

Trabzonspor’s prolific striker Paul Onuachu has endured a rare quiet spell in front of goal, failing to score in his last three Süper Lig appearances.

The Nigerian forward’s absence from the scoresheet has coincided with a dip in form for the Black Sea side, who have collected just three points from their last four matches.

Onuachu, who netted 22 times this season and leads the league’s scoring charts, last struck in Trabzonspor’s 2-1 victory over Galatasaray in week 28. Since then, the team has drawn with Alanyaspor, Başakşehir, and Göztepe, while suffering defeat against Konyaspor.

The 29-year-old missed the Alanyaspor clash through injury but has since gone three consecutive games without scoring, his longest barren run of the campaign.

Despite this, Onuachu remains top of the Golden Boot race, ahead of Eldor Shomurodov (20 goals) and Anderson Talisca (19 goals).

Trabzonspor’s reliance on their star striker is evident: in the 18 matches where Onuachu has found the net, the team recorded 13 wins, four draws, and just one defeat, amassing 43 points.

Without his contribution, however, their title challenge has faltered, leaving them third in the table with 66 points.
