Onyali, Okorie Headline Enugu 2026 Festival Organising Team

Former Nigeria international and five-time Olympian Mary Onyali and ex-international Victor Okorie are among prominent sports personalities named on the Local Organising Committee for the 23rd National Sports Festival, Coal City Games Enugu 2026.
Onyali, one of Nigeria’s most decorated sprinters, will serve as a member of the Venue and Facilities Sub-Committee and chair the Volunteers Sub-Committee.
Okorie, a former Nigeria international and current Athletics Federation of Nigeria performance director and liaison officer, has been given several responsibilities, including serving as secretary of the Technical Sub-Committee and chairman of the Athletes Recruitment Sub-Committee. He is also a member of the Venue and Facilities Committee and the Team Enugu Preparation and Participation Committee.
Another former Nigeria athlete, Henry Chinedu Okorie, who competed in the 400 metres hurdles, will serve as deputy chairman of the Accommodation Sub-Committee, secretary of the Team Enugu Preparation and Participation Committee, chairman of the Athletes Welfare Team and a member of the Tourism and Festival Experience Committee.
The LOC also includes Davidson Owumi, the former Enugu Rangers player and former Nigeria Premier Football League chairman, while sports coordination expert and University of Ibadan graduate Robinson Okosun has been named to the Ceremonial Sub-Committee.
The broader organising structure brings together government officials, sports administrators, former athletes, medical experts, media professionals, security agencies, technical officials and other stakeholders as Enugu prepares to host the national showpiece.
Hon. Lloyd Ike Ekweremadu Jr. is listed as chairman of the Local Organising Committee, with the various sub-committees assigned responsibilities covering accommodation, catering, media and communication, protocol, security, transport, venues and facilities, finance, marketing, volunteers, mobilisation, tourism, medical services and technical operations.
The festival, tagged Coal City Games Enugu 2026, is expected to bring together thousands of athletes from across Nigeria for the country’s premier multi-sport competition.
