Osimhen and Onuachu Set for Crucial Super Lig Battles

Two of Nigeria’s leading strikers, Victor Osimhen and Paul Onuachu, will be in action today in the Turkish Super Lig with contrasting ambitions.

For Osimhen, the focus is on firing Galatasaray to a fourth consecutive league title, his second since joining the club, while also aiming to outscore teammate Mauro Icardi as the club’s top scorer for the second straight season.

The Nigerian forward has 13 goals this campaign, just one behind Icardi’s 14, and is on the brink of reaching 40 league goals across two seasons in Turkey.

Onuachu, meanwhile, is battling to rediscover his scoring touch after three games without a goal.

The Trabzonspor striker sits on 22 goals this season but faces pressure from Istanbul Basaksehir’s Eldor Shomurodov, who has closed the gap to just two with 20 strikes.

With only two matches left, Onuachu is determined to hold off the Uzbek forward and finish as the league’s top scorers, succeeding Osimhen who top-scored last season with 26 goals.

Beyond the immediate race, Onuachu is also chasing a personal milestone: three more goals would take him to 40 in two seasons, matching the tally Osimhen is about to achieve.
