‘Osimhen can become one of the world’s strongest strikers’
Says Ivory Coast and Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba
Former Chelsea striker, Didier Drogba has backed Napoli forward and Nigerian international, Victor Osimhen to go ahead and become one of the strongest strikers in the world.
Osimhen since making a move from Lille of France to Napoli of Italy in the summer transfer window of 2020 has been churning out wonderful performances in the Serie A and Europe.
Meanwhile, Osimhen in a recent interview revealed that his footballing idol has always been Drogba, a former Ivory Coast star and one of the best players in the last 30 years.
Drogba spoke to Calciomercato.it and said very nice things about Osimhen: “I like Osimhen a lot. Oh yes, he’s a great striker. If he can become among the greatest in the world?
“Yes it’s possible, in football, everything is possible. When you have a talent like yours, I think it’s just a question of momentum.”
Osimhen is the third most valuable player on the continent of Africa behind Mohammed Salah of Liverpool and Ashraf Hakimi of Paris Saint-Germain.
He missed almost two months of action during the season due to a nasty check bone injury he sustained in November 2021 in a league game.
Nevertheless, he went on to deliver 14 league goals as well as finding the net four times in four matches in the UEFA Europa League group stage.
