Osimhen down with abdominal discomfort, stays in Abidjan as Eagles jet out to Bouaké

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen may be a huge doubt for Wednesday’s AFCON 2023 semifinal clash against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa because of an
abdominal discomfort.

The Napoli forward will not travel with the team to Bouaké, the second-largest city in Ivory Coast tonight as he continues to receive attention from the
team’s medics.

In a message from the media office of the Super Eagles, Osimhen can still join the team on Tuesday before 5pm if he recovers from the abdominal discomfort

‘We will fly from Abidjan to Bouaké today via a 10pm Air Cote D’Ivoire flight. Victor Osimhen will not join us on this trip as a result of an abdominal
discomfort.

‘Team medics confirmed that he has been placed under close watch with a member of the medical team staying behind in Abidjan with him. If cleared by tomorrow
morning, he will join the rest of the squad before 5pm,’ read the message.

Acute abdominal pain develops and often goes away over a few hours to a few days, according to medics.

The Super Eagles will face the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Wednesday at the 40,000 capacity Stade de la Paix in Bouaké.
