Osimhen fires Benin Repubic, Rwanda warning with third brace of Galatasaray career
Victor Osimhen scored twice for the second time in four days to help Galatasaray to a 3-2 defeat of Samsunspor in their match week 12 clash in the Super Lig at the Rams Park stadium in Istanbul of Sunday.
The Nigerian, who scored twice in a similar scoreline when yellow and red defeated Tottenham Hotspur in a Europa League group phase game on Thursday, opened scoring on three minutes against Samsunspor on Sunday, heading in a cross from the right flank to give the host a 1-0 lead.
Osimhen was on song after the restart, sending in a Yunus Akgun cross in the 55th minute.
The 25-year-old has now scored six goals in six Turkish Super Lig games since he joined the club on loan from Napoli in September.
This is his second brace in the Super Lig after netting two twice in the 3-3 draw with Kenneth Omeruo’s Kasimpasa in September, and third overall.
Osimhen is in Nigeria’s squad for the final 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games against the Cheetahs of Benin Republic and the Amavubi of Rwanda later this month.
The former Lille of France forward will be looking to add to the 16 goals he has scored in 14 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
