Osimhen has missed 40 games for Napoli through injury
Nigerian set to miss at least seven more games after another injury worry for his club
Victor Osimhen has missed over 40 games for Napoli through injury and injury-related reasons since the Nigerian joined the reigning Serie A champion in
September 2020.
The Nigerian missed 17 games in his first season in Italy through head and shoulder injuries.
He missed three Europa League, 10 Serie A games and one Italian Cup game through a shoulder injury and three due to head injury viz two in the Serie A and
one in the Europa League.
In the 2021/22 season, the Nigerian could not play 14 times due to a cheek bone fracture and calf strain.
Osimhen sustained the cheek bone fracture in November 2021 when he had a head collision with Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar in Napoli’s 3-2 loss at Giuseppe
Meazza in a Serie A game.
The Super Eagle missed the following eight Serie A games, two Europa League games, and one Italian Cup game due to that injury and a further two due to a
calf strain.
Last season, the former Lille of France star missed six games when he suffered a biceps femoris muscle injury in Napoli’s 4-1 bashing of Liverpool in an UEFA
Champions League tie and three games due to a tear in the abductor muscle.
The 24 year old is down with another biceps femoris muscle injury and will likely be out of action for at least four weeks.
This means he is going to miss at least between seven and nine games starting with this weekend’s Serie A game at Hellas Verona as well as UEFA Champions League games at Union Berlin in Germany and in Naples as well as away at real Madrid.
He will also miss up to six Serie A games including those against AC Milan and Inter Milan as well as the clash of brothers when Napoli visit Ademola Lookman’s Atalanta towards the end of next month.
Osimhen has scored six times and bagged an assist in eight games for Napoli this term and 65 goals and 15 assists in 111 appearances since he joined the club from Ligue 1 side, Lille.
