Osimhen Helps Galatasaray Complete Chimezie Metu Transfer After Key Meeting
Victor Osimhen’s influence at Galatasaray has extended beyond the football pitch after the Nigerian striker played a role in helping the club complete the signing of basketball star Chimezie Metu.
Galatasaray MCT Technic have reached an agreement with Chimezie Metu on a 1+1-year contract following a long pursuit of the Nigerian forward.
The club’s efforts came despite interest from two EuroLeague teams competing for his signature.
According to reports, Mecit Mert Çetinkaya was instrumental in bringing the deal to completion. After learning that Metu had an interest in football, Çetinkaya arranged a meeting between the basketball player and Victor Osimhen.
During their conversation, Osimhen spoke positively about his experience at Galatasaray and explained why he believed Metu would enjoy being part of the club’s community.
The meeting reportedly influenced Metu’s decision, with the Nigerian big man accepting Galatasaray’s offer after discussions with Osimhen.
Galatasaray finalised the agreement on Wednesday morning, securing Metu’s services on an initial one-year deal with an option for an additional season.
