Osimhen: ‘I’m having the time of my life’

Voted man of the match after scoring first club career hat-trick

Victor Osimhen netted his first club career hat-trick on Saturtday in Napoli’s 4-0 defeat of visiting Sassuolo in a Serie A fixture at the Armando Maradona stadium.

It was the Nigerian’s seventh Serie A goal of the season in eight games and eighth goal in 10 matches across all competitions so far this season.

It was also his fourth goal in three appearances against the visitors, the most he has scored against any club in the Serie A.

Osimhen has now scored 31 goals in 59 Serie A appearances to become Nigeria’s joint top scoring player in the history of the competition with Simy Nwankwo (scored 31 goals in 101 games).

A delighted Osimhen who was voted man of the match shared his thoughts after the historic game for him.

“I’m delighted and I’d like to thank the team who’ve helped me a great deal to settle back into the swing of things after my injury.

“I’d like to congratulate all of my team-mates. They’re top players and the whole squad is blessed with quality. I’d also like to thank the coach for the faith he’s shown in me and I’m keen to keep this up, both individually and collectively.

“Every time I score I dedicate my goal to my daughter. This hat trick is for her,” he told the club’s official website.
