Osimhen joins Jardel in Galatasaray history after four-goal start

Victor Osimhen has made a sensational start to the 2026/27 Süper Lig season, scoring four goals in Galatasaray’s opening two matches and matching a feat last achieved by club legend Mario Jardel more than two decades ago.
The Nigerian striker followed his two-goal performance against Çorum FK in the opening week with another brace and an assist in Galatasaray’s 4-0 victory over Erzurumspor on Friday night.
Osimhen’s latest goals took his league tally to four in just two appearances as he continues to lead the champions’ attack.
According to Opta data, Osimhen has scored 16 goals across Europe’s five major leagues and the Süper Lig since December 2025, with only Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane ahead of him on 22 goals during that period.
His latest achievement has also placed him in Galatasaray’s history books.
Osimhen became the first Galatasaray player since Mario Jardel in the 2000/01 season to score at least four goals in the club’s opening two Süper Lig matches of a campaign. Jardel scored five during that period.
The 27-year-old’s explosive start has further underlined his importance to Galatasaray, with Osimhen already emerging as one of the standout performers of the new Turkish league season.
