Nigerian Striker Takes Season’s Tally To Eight Goals After Derby Brace Against Fenerbahce
Victor Osimhen has joined fellow Nigerian Gift Orban and Trabzonspor’s Mohammed Salah at the top of the Turkish Super Lig scoring chart after his brace for Galatasaray in Monday’s 2-1 Istanbul derby victory against Fenerbahce.
Osimhen has now scored eight goals in seven Super Lig appearances this season, drawing level with Orban and Salah, who also have eight goals each.
While Osimhen struck twice in the derby, Salah failed to score in Trabzonspor’s 4-3 victory away to Rizespor on Monday.
The Galatasaray striker has continued to deliver since joining the Turkish champions, taking his tally to 68 goals in 83 appearances across all competitions.
Of those goals, 49 have come in 59 Super Lig matches, underlining his prolific record in the Turkish top flight.
The 27-year-old’s latest double has strengthened his bid to reclaim the league’s top scorer award, which he won during his debut season in Turkey.
