Osimhen loses protective mask, seeks to move past Eto’o African goal record

Victor Osimhen has lost his protective mask for his cheekbone.

The Nigerian lost the mask during the international break with Nigeria.

The 24 year old, according to Italian newspaper, ‘Repubblica’, has already contacted the production company to try to get him a repalcement ahead of Napoli’s Sunday evening game against AC Milan.

Meanwhile, Osimhen will be seeking to move past Cameroun legend, Samuel Eto’o as the top scoring African in the Serie A in a single season.

The former Lille of France forward has scored 21 goals in 23 Serie A appearances this year to match the total number of goals Eto’o scored for Inter Milan in
the 2010/11 season.

The Camerounian netted 21 times in 35 games for the Nerzzurrini that season and Osimhen needs only a goal to become the standalone top scoring African in a
single Serie A season.

Osimhen is already the top scoring Nigerian in the competition’s history with his 45 goals so far across the three seasos he is in the Serie A and he also
became the top scoring Nigerian in a single Serie A season, supplanting Simy Nwankwo who scored 20 times in 38 games for Crotone in the 2020/21 season.

A goal for the Nigerian against AC Milan on Sunday will also draw him level with George Weah as the top scoring African in the history of the Serie A.

Weah netted 46 goals in 114 appearances for AC Milan across five seasons and Osimhen has scored 45 goals in 74 games for Napoli across three seasons.
