Osimhen makes it 17 goals in 21 games, suffers first defeat of Galatasaray career

Victor Osimhen netted for the second Europa League game in a row and the fourth game in a row across all competitions, but his goal was just a mere consolation as he suffered his first defeat wearing a Galatasaray shirt and on his 21st appearance.

The Nigerian scored on 94th minute on his sixth Europa League game for his Turkish Super Lig side to half the deficit against their host, Ajax at the Johan Cruijff ArenA in Amsterdam on Thursday night.

It was however not enough as the Yellow and Red suffered their first defeat in Europe this term to drop into the play-offs.

Osimhen has now moved into third in the Nigerian all-time top scorers list with nine goals from 14 appearances with five of the goals coming in six appearances for Galatasaray.

Obafemi Martins tops the list with 13 goals in 27 games spread among five clubs while Bayer Leverkusen star, Victor Boniface is second with 11 goals from 18 games for two clubs.

Osimhen is just four goals away from equaling Martins’ goal record and will be looking to fire his Turkish side beyond the Play-offs.
