Osimhen Ranked Fourth-Best Striker in World Football

Victor Osimhen has been ranked the fourth-best centre-forward in world football, according to a new ranking by Planet Football.

The Nigerian striker was placed ahead of Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez, Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez and Chelsea forward Joao Pedro, but behind a top three consisting of Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappé and Harry Kane.

Osimhen’s fourth-place ranking comes despite the 27-year-old currently playing in the Turkish Super Lig with Galatasaray.

Planet Football questioned why the Nigerian is not leading the line for one of Europe’s biggest clubs, pointing to his performances in the Champions League last season, particularly against Liverpool and Juventus.

Those displays, according to the publication, demonstrated that Osimhen possesses the quality to play for one of Europe’s elite clubs.

‘His Champions League performances against Liverpool and Juventus last season were those of a striker ready for a Barcelona or a Manchester United,’ the publication stated.

Osimhen was also ranked above Martinez, who has scored 175 goals for Inter Milan and 40 for Argentina, while Alvarez was seventh despite his big-game pedigree.

Haaland was ranked third, with Mbappé second and Kane taking top spot.

Kane’s 61 goals in all competitions for Bayern Munich last season helped him claim the No.1 position, while Mbappé was praised for his extraordinary goalscoring exploits for France and Real Madrid.

Haaland, meanwhile, was described as perhaps the purest No.9 in world football.
