‘Osimhen not the best center forward in Napoli history’

Says former Napoli forward Emanuele Calaiò

Former Napoli striker, Emanuele Calaiò says Gonzalo Higuain and not Victor Osimhen remains the best forward in the history of the club.

Calaiò who played for Napoli for four seasons was asked during an interview with Italain news outlet, Corriere del Mezzogiorno, if Osimhen is the best number nine in Napoli history.

‘No, Higuain comes first. He was complete, he could do everything. He was dominant.” he said.

Higuain netted 91 times in 146 appearances for Napoli with 71 of the goals coming in 104 games for the club while Osimhen has scored 49 times in 90 games in almost three seasons.

The Argentine netted 36 times in 35 Serie A games to emerge Serie A top scorer in the 2015/16 season and become the first player to score the most goals in an Italian topflight season before Lazio’s Ciro Immobile scored 36 times in 37 games in the 2019/20 season.

Osimhen currently tops the top scorer’s chart in the Serie A with 19 goals in 21 appearances and the Nigerian has been tipped to end the season as top scorer as well as become the first Napoli player to win the top scorer award and the Scudetto in the same season.
