Osimhen returns to full training, to make squad list for Serie A game versus Verona

Victor Osimhen is back!. The Nigerian returned to full training trained with the Napoli squad on Friday and the 24 year old will be available for next week’s Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League quarterfinal second leg tie against AC Milan in Naopoli.

This is the first time that the striker has trained regularly since he suffered a minor niggle in his adductor muscle on international duty with Nigeria.

The former Lille of France forward will thus make the squad for the Saturday’s Serie A game against Verona. This much was confirmed by coach Luciano Spalletti in Friday’s press conference.

‘He’s in good condition, I had a meeting with the doctors this (Friday) morning and it felt natural to call him for Saturday’s game. It’s clear that the goal is to have him at his best for Tuesday’s game but on Saturday he will be on the bench with us,’ revealed Spalletti.

Osimhen has scored 25 goals across all competitions this season in 29 appearances and he has scored more goals (15) among Serie A players in all competitions in 2023.

He played his last game with Napoli on March 19th, when he scored a brace against Torino.

Without the Nigerian, Napoli have struggled to score goals. While they did beat Lecce, they relied on an own goal and have lost twice to Milan and have struggled for goals in both the games against the Rossoneri.
